MILWAUKEE, Wis. — Milwaukee Area Technical College women's volleyball is proud to announce the signing of local standout Lydia Johnson, a 5‑foot‑2 defensive specialist/libero from Whitnall High School in Greenfield, Wis., to its 2026 recruiting class. Johnson will join the Stormers this fall as MATC looks to build on a strong 30–12 campaign this past winter.
Leadership and defensive consistency defined her time at Whitnall. As a senior this past fall, Johnson earned First Team All‑Woodland Conference honors, guided the team as captain, and finished her career with 751 digs. She also capped the season by receiving the Team MVP Coaches Award, underscoring her role as the program's most dependable defender.
"Lydia Johnson is a smart and dynamic player," MATC head coach
Shel DeLisle said. "She is quick and moves well on the court. The loss of two defenders in May leaves some big shoes to fill, and having Lydia join us in the fall will help fill that void."
At MATC, Johnson plans to study Diagnostic Medical Sonography with the ultimate goal of becoming a travel ultrasound technician. On the court as a Stormer, she aims to be a leader, grow her confidence, and compete at a higher level as she works to strengthen the team's defensive unit heading into the 2026–27 winter campaign.
