MILWAUKEE, Wis. — Milwaukee Area Technical College women's volleyball strengthened its 2026 recruiting class with the signing of 5‑foot‑11 setter/opposite hitter Onyx Burdette, a standout from Illinois Valley Central High School in Chillicothe, Ill.
Burdette competed for Illinois Valley Central while also playing club volleyball with Central Illinois Elite. She earned national recognition on the JVA Girls Watchlist in 2024 and 2025 and was named to the AVCA High School All‑American team both years, underscoring her consistent impact at the prep level.
"Onyx brings another dimension to our offense," MATC head coach
Shel DeLisle said. "Her height and versatility at the net, combined with her ability to set up our other hitters, will elevate our game and provide additional opportunities to challenge our opponents."
Off the court, Burdette plans to major in early childhood education and pursue a career as a teacher. At MATC, she hopes to help the Stormers capture their first NJCAA national title before moving on to a four‑year university to continue her playing career and complete her education degree.
