WAUWATOSA, Wis. — Milwaukee Area Technical College men's tennis earned two strong singles victories Sunday but fell 7–2 to Elgin Community College at Paley Tennis Center. Competing again with only three available players, the Stormers were forced to forfeit five positions, accounting for the final team score despite a competitive showing in all contested courts. The loss dropped MATC to 0–8 on the season.
At No. 1 doubles,
Braxton Brusky and
Peyton Kuzminski battled throughout a tight match before falling 8–6, marking one of their closest efforts of the year.
MATC responded with two impressive singles wins. Kuzminski delivered one of his most complete performances of the season at No. 2 singles, taking a tight first set before pulling away for a 7–6, 6–2 victory. At No. 3 singles,
Isaiah Marin matched that energy, grinding out a 7–6, 6–1 win behind consistent baseline pressure and strong returns.
At No. 1 singles, Brusky competed well but dropped a straight‑set decision against Elgin's top player.
"On Sunday vs. Elgin we were able to build on Saturday's momentum by having another strong performance," MATC head coach Mark Picard said. "Hopefully we can carry this momentum into our last two dual matches next weekend."
Editor's Note: MATC competes this season with only three eligible players. As a result, the Stormers forfeit No. 2 and No. 3 doubles and No. 4–6 singles in every match, beginning each contest trailing 5–0 in the team score.
