GRAYSLAKE, Ill. — The Milwaukee Area Technical College women's tennis team opened its 2025–26 campaign Sunday with an 8–1 loss to Illinois Valley Community College at Lakes Community High School.

Despite the final score, the Stormers found a brief spark in doubles play. The pairing of Reese Thao and Kamilla Mamedova earned MATC's lone victory, defeating Illinois Valley's Ellie Taylor and Makenzie Eichelkraut, 8–3. The win marked a strong start for the first-year duo, who showed early-season chemistry and aggressive net play.

In singles competition, however, MATC struggled to gain traction. All six Stormers fell in straight sets, as Illinois Valley controlled the pace and capitalized on unforced errors throughout the lineup.
