GLEN ELLYN, Ill. — In sweltering 85-degree heat, the Milwaukee Area Technical College women's tennis team extended its winning streak to four matches with a 6-3 victory over College of DuPage on Saturday morning.
"I'm proud of how the team is playing, but we still have work to do to accomplish a special season," Stormers head coach
Mark Picard said.
The Stormers opened strong in doubles play, taking a 2-1 lead into singles action after
Aisha Kaabachi/
Alexandra Suchanek (8-0) and
Ellea Gleesing/
Natalie Schroeder won their No. 2 (8-0) and No. 3 (8-1) doubles matches, respectively.
Needing just three singles wins to clinch the match, MATC secured four. Kaabachi and Suchanek continued their momentum with back-to-back victories at No. 3 and No. 4 singles. With the Stormers one win away from sealing the match, both
Reese Thao and
Kamilla Mamedova delivered. Thao won her No. 1 singles match 6-4, 6-1, while Mamedova claimed a hard-fought 7-5, 7-5 win at No. 2 singles.
