GLENDALE, Wis. — Milwaukee Area Technical College's women's tennis team rebounded from an 0-2 start by winning its third straight match over the weekend, edging Sauk Valley 5-4 on Saturday and blanking Waubonsee 9-0 on Sunday at the Elite Sports Club–North Shore indoor complex.
The pair of victories improved the Stormers to 3-2 overall, marking the best start in program history, with three regular-season matches remaining before the NJCAA Region 4 tournament kicks off in early October.

Mark Picard said. "The 3-2 start is the best in program history, but there's still plenty of work ahead."
Saturday: MATC 5, Sauk Valley 4
MATC captured two of three doubles matches to help earn its first win against the Skyhawks in program history. At No. 1 doubles,
Reese Thao and
Kamilla Mamedova teamed for a straight-set victory, winning 8-4 against a previously undefeated Sauk Valley duo. At No. 3,
Ellea Gleesing and
Natalie Schroeder added an 8-3 win, offsetting an 8-6 loss by
Aisha Kaabachi and Ali Suchanek at No. 2.
Carrying a 2-1 lead into singles, Schroeder closed out her match in straight sets without giving up a single set point meanwhile Thao clinched another singles win with a 6-4, 4-6, 10-4 tiebreak victory at No. 1 singles. Sauk Valley then countered with two singles victories of their own, leaving it up to Suchanek to break a 4-4 tie. In her biggest match of her Stormers' career, Suchanek managed to prevail for a 6-4, 6-4, straight-set win to lift the Stormers past Sauk Valley.
Sunday: MATC 9, Waubonsee 0
MATC blanked Waubonsee 9-0, dropping just 11 sets across six singles and three doubles matches. The Stormers seized a 3-0 lead in doubles as Thao and Mamedova won 8-4 at No. 1, Kaabachi and Suchanek posted an 8-0 decision at No. 2 and Gleesing and Schroeder advanced by forfeit at No. 3.
In singles, Kaabachi and Suchanek notched straight-set victories at Nos. 3 and 4. Thao followed with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 1, and Mamedova prevailed 6-0, 6-2 at No. 2. Schroeder completed the sweep via forfeit.
