JANESVILLE, Wis. —
No. 21-ranked Milwaukee Area Technical College's women's volleyball team extended its season-opening win streak to 10 games with a 3-0 victory (25-15, 25-14, 25-18) over the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Wednesday at Rock County.
In a match that saw every Stormer see action, MATC leaned on its potent hitting attack early to seize control. It hit .250 with nine kills on 20 attempts in the first set to secure a 10-point win, then posted a .217 attack percentage and 11 kills in the second set. Up 2-0, the Stormers did not let up, winning the third set by seven points for their sixth sweep of the season.
"It is always a good match when we come away with a win in 3 sets," MATC head coach
Shel DeLisle said. "It's even better when we can do it with everyone having the opportunity to contribute."
Sophomore outside hitter
Kayleah Laughlin and freshman middle hitter
Allison Chapman paced the Stormers' offense. Laughlin tallied a team-high 9.5 points on five kills, three service aces, three digs, one solo block and one block assist. Chapman added five kills on a .714 attack percentage.
Collectively, the Stormers recorded 19 service aces, led by freshmen
Annika Romine and
Hope Martens, who each had four. Martens also contributed nine assists and nine digs while going 3-for-3 with a 1.000 hitting efficiency.

Kimberly Busateri anchored the defense with a team-high 15 digs and four service aces. Her consistent passing allowed freshman setter

Natalia Farrugia chipped in five kills on a .182 attack percentage, along with three digs, one service ace and a solo block.
Altogether, the Stormers combined for a .208 attack efficiency (30 kills on 72 swings) with relentless serving and strong defense to move past the Warhawks.

MATC (10-0) will compete in the South Suburban College Tournament Sept. 6-7. The Stormers open against Lake Michigan College at 11 a.m. Saturday, then face Morton College at 1:30 p.m. Sunday's slate begins at 11 a.m. against Highland Community College and concludes at 1:30 p.m. against Marian University's Ancilla College.
