HANOVER PARK, Ill. — The Milwaukee Area Technical College women's tennis team picked up its first win of the 2025-26 season in dominant fashion, defeating Elgin 8-1 on Sunday at Center Court Athletic Club.
The Stormers earned three official match victories in their top three singles flights, along with three singles wins by forfeit and two doubles wins by forfeit.
"It's always a good feeling to get a win," MATC head coach
Mark Picard said. "Getting a win early in the season takes a little pressure off the team and hopefully makes them hungry for more.
"I'm proud of how after struggling to get momentum in doubles that we came out strong in singles play," he added. "I'm confident that we can carry the momentum from this win into our future matches."

Kamilla Mamedova dropped a hard-fought 8-6 decision at No. 1 doubles, while freshmen
Aisha Kaabachi and Ali Suchanek, along with
Ellea Gleesing and
Natalie Schroeder, each collected 2-0 forfeit victories.
In singles play, Thao, Mamedova and Kaabachi posted dominant straight-sets wins, while Suchanek, Gleesing and Schroeder secured victories via forfeit. Thao prevailed 6-4, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, Mamedova earned a 6-0, 6-3 win at No. 2, and Kaabachi closed out the competition with a 7-5, 6-2 victory at No. 3.
