MILWAUKEE, Wis. — Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC) is delighted to announce the signing of 2025 men's basketball recruit Messiah Thompkins, an all-around highly skilled post player out of Madison, Wisconsin.
Thompkins, a standout multi-sport athlete from Vel Phillips Memorial High School, distinguished himself in football, track and field, and wrestling, demonstrating exceptional versatility and athleticism. As for hoops, Thompkins developed his basketball skills competing in the AAU circuit with the Wisconsin Rising Stars, where he gained valuable experience and exposure. While comprehensive statistics from his high school and AAU careers are unavailable, Thompkins' diverse athletic background and dedication to basketball position him well as he embarks on his collegiate athletic journey.
"We are looking forward to having Messiah in our program," Stormers head men's basketball coach
Randy Casey said. "He will be expected to give us some strength down on the block and guard the opponent's big man. Messiah will be a big asset to our program."
Thompkins, who stands 6 feet 8 inches, is expected to make an immediate impact in the paint for the Stormers. Known for his rare ability to play with his back to the basket, Thompkins brings a strong interior presence that fills a key need for MATC's frontcourt as a rebounder. His combination of size, athleticism and skill makes him a key signing for the Stormers as they prepare for the upcoming 2025-26 season.
Thompkins joins a growing recruiting class for the Stormers, as MATC continues to build a program focused on athletic excellence, academic achievement, and character development.
