Busateri, Farrugia and Krueger Named to NJCAA All-Region Teams

MILWAUKEE, Wis. — The National Junior College Athletic Association Region 4 has recognized three Milwaukee Area Technical College volleyball players with all‑region honors following the conclusion of the 2025‑26 regular season.

Sophomore libero Kim Busateri earned a spot on the NJCAA District A All‑Region 4 First Team, while sophomores Natalia Farrugia and Rachel Krueger were each selected to the All‑Region 4 Second Team.

The recognition marks the second consecutive year Busateri has been honored at the regional level. She was named to the All‑Region 4 Second Team during the 2024‑25 season before elevating to first‑team status this fall. Farrugia and Krueger, meanwhile, secured their first career all‑region selections.

Busateri anchored the Stormers' defense throughout the 2025‑26 regular season campaign, appearing in all 40 matches and 145 sets. The sophomore libero not only paced MATC but also led all of Region 4 in both total digs (782) and digs per set (5.39), establishing herself as the top back‑row defender in the region. Her 782 digs also set a new single‑season record at MATC and ranked fourth nationally at the NJCAA Division II level. She added 156 assists (1.08 per set) and 59 service aces (0.41 per set), showcasing her all‑around impact. Her consistency in serve‑receive and ability to control rallies were instrumental in the Stormers' success and earned her a well‑deserved place on the All‑Region 4 First Team.

"We are extremely proud of Kim, and her first‑team recognition is well deserved," MATC head coach Shel DeLisle said. "For two years she has been the defensive backbone of our program, breaking records and ranking among the nation's leaders in digs. Beyond the stats, she's been a mentor to our back‑row players, a steady captain, and the anchor of our defense. She continues to elevate her game, and while her departure will leave a significant void, her impact will be felt long after. We only wish we had her for two more seasons."

Farrugia was the Stormers' most dangerous weapon at the service line, finishing with 97 aces to rank second in Region 4 and averaging 0.67 aces per set, the fourth‑best mark in the region. Her ability to generate points directly from the line consistently swung momentum in MATC's favor. She paired that serving firepower with 269 kills on a .272 hitting percentage, providing steady offensive production across 144 sets. Farrugia also contributed 187 digs (1.30 per set) and 99 total blocks (0.69 per set). That combination of elite serving and balanced all‑around play earned her a spot on the All‑Region 4 Second Team.

"Natalia is a steady presence on the court who can really play six rotations and any front‑row hitting or blocking position," DeLisle said. "She doesn't make very many mistakes, shows up ready to play, does her job, and is a force from the serving line and at the net. She is an amazing player and teammate, and we are glad to have her coming back for a second year. So happy for her recognition, but to be honest, not surprised at all. She earned it."

Krueger also provided steady production for the Stormers throughout the season, finishing with 284 kills across 131 sets while hitting .204. She averaged 2.17 kills per set and added a strong presence at the service line with 69 aces (0.53 per set), ranking among the team's most effective servers. Defensively, she collected 334 digs (2.55 per set) and contributed 45 total blocks, underscoring her versatility as a two‑way player. Her ability to impact matches in multiple phases of the game made her an all‑around asset and secured her a spot on the All‑Region 4 Second Team.

"Rachel really brought it to the court this year," DeLisle said. "I think she was a dark horse for all‑region and often gets overlooked because she isn't a flashy outside hitter, but she is consistent on both offense and defense and gets the point at the net or from the service line when we need it. No drama, just a solid work ethic. I am really glad that the other coaches saw and recognized her contributions, too. I'm proud of her — this is well deserved."

All three players were instrumental in guiding the Stormers to a 29‑11 overall record during the 2025‑26 regular season, a mark that secured seventh place in Region 4 and reinforced MATC's standing as one of the region's most competitive programs.
