WISCONSIN DELLS, Wis. — The Milwaukee Area Technical College men's basketball team continued its hot start to the 2025-26 campaign by sweeping a pair of road contests against Rochester Community and Technical College and Lake Michigan College this past Friday and Saturday, closing the Border Battle 2-0 and improving to 3-1 on the season.
In the opener against the Yellowjackets on Friday, the Stormers rolled to a 102-85 win by forcing 34 Rochester turnovers and shooting better than 50 percent from the field, finishing 39 of 75. The combination of efficient offense and tenacious defense gave MATC a 43-36 halftime lead before breaking the game open in the second half.
MATC then carried that momentum into Saturday's matchup, racing out to a 60-36 halftime lead over Lake Michigan before cruising to a 113-87 victory. Sophomore guard
Jayden Hackett delivered his best performance of the season, shooting 11 of 14 from the field for a game-high 28 points while adding five rebounds, two assists and a block.
"We started very slowly Friday, then hit the reset at halftime and came out strong in the second half," MATC head coach
Randy Casey said. "Our defensive pressure made the difference. Saturday we came out ready to play on both ends of the floor; our defense set up our offense. In the second half we became complacent and did not stick to our defensive principles. Our goal is to keep working hard on both ends and play a full 40 minutes."
