MILWAUKEE, Wis. — Milwaukee Area Technical College men's basketball is honored to announce that sophomore guard Qi'Andre Washington has signed with Young Harris College, an NCAA Division II program competing in Conference Carolinas. 

Washington's journey to Young Harris reflects three years of steady growth and persistence. He broke in as a freshman for the Stormers during the 2023–24 season and quickly became a spark off the bench. The Chicago native appeared in 37 games, averaging 6.7 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists while shooting 46 percent from the field. He finished that year with 247 points, 129 rebounds, 94 assists and 57 steals, helping MATC post a 30–7 record and capture the NJCAA Region 4 Midwest District B championship. 

After stepping away from basketball for the 2024–25 season, Washington returned this past winter and immediately reshaped MATC's identity.  He moved straight into the starting lineup and became the Stormers' defensive tone‑setter. Washington started 29 of 36 games and averaged 11.0 points, 4.4 rebounds and 2.9 assists, shooting 47.6 percent from the floor. He totaled 397 points, 159 rebounds, 106 assists and 101 steals, reaching double figures 18 times and emerging as one of the most reliable two‑way guards in Region 4.

Washington said the year away from the game reshaped his perspective.

"It honestly means a lot to me," Washington said. "After taking a year away from basketball, there were definitely moments where I wasn't sure what the future would look like, so to have the opportunity to sign with Young Harris is something I'm really grateful for. My time at MATC helped me grow both as a player and as a person, and I'm thankful to my coaches, teammates, family, and everyone who believed in me along the way. I'm excited for this next chapter and ready to keep working."

His return lined up with one of the best seasons in program history. MATC finished 31–5, climbed to No. 5 in the NJCAA Division II national rankings, went 27–3 in the regular season, protected home court with a 14–0 record and closed the regular season schedule on a 20‑game win streak. The Stormers then swept the Region 4 Postseason Tournament to win the Midwest District A championship and advanced to the Elite Eight at the NJCAA National Tournament, falling to eventual champion Parkland. 

Across his two seasons at MATC, Washington played 73 games and became one of the program's most dependable two‑way guards. He finished with 644 points, 288 rebounds, 200 assists, 158 steals and 26 blocks, helping the Stormers post a combined 61–12 record and win back‑to‑back district titles  (Midwest District B in 2023–24 and Midwest District A in 2025–26). He earned NJCAA Region 4 All‑Tournament Team honors as a freshman and returned this season as a leader who brought toughness and consistency every night. 

"We are proud of Dre's time with us at MATC and we are extremely excited for him as he continues his education and basketball career at Young Harris College," head coach Randy Casey said. "They are getting an athletic guard who can be a mismatch nightmare for defenses with his unique blend of size and speed."

Washington becomes the latest Stormer to move on to a four‑year program and will look to make an immediate impact at the NCAA Division II level.
