MILWAUKEE, Wis. — Milwaukee Area Technical College men's basketball is excited to share that sophomore forward Brendan Nesbary is continuing his academic and athletic career at the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago. He will join the Scarlet Hawks this fall as he makes the jump from NJCAA competition to the NCAA Division III level, where Illinois Tech competes in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC).

Nesbary's commitment follows a strong season in which he became a key rotational piece for a Stormers squad that surged to a 31–5 record, climbed to No. 5 in the NJCAA Division II national rankings, and reached the Elite Eight before falling to eventual 2026 national champion Parkland. The 6‑foot‑5 Grand Rapids, Michigan native appeared in 19 games this past winter and delivered steady two‑way minutes off the bench, averaging 3.8 points per game on 40.8 percent shooting (29‑of‑71). He added 11 assists, five blocks and 57 rebounds, using his length, versatility and effort to help anchor MATC's depth throughout one of the program's best seasons in recent years.

MATC head coach Randy Casey said Nesbary set a strong example during his time with the Stormers.

"Brendan has been a tremendous representative of our program during his time at MATC," Casey said. "His competitiveness and work ethic helped set the standard for our team. We are excited to see him continue his basketball journey at the next level with Illinois Tech."
