MILWAUKEE, Wis. — Milwaukee Area Technical College men's basketball is proud to announce that sophomore point guard
Kamarion Ivory has committed to Governors State University to continue his collegiate basketball career at the NAIA level. Ivory's decision comes after a strong two‑year stretch with the Stormers that saw him grow into a reliable contributor on one of the most successful teams in MATC men's basketball program history.
Ivory, a 6'1 guard from Whitefish Bay, arrived at MATC as a developmental prospect and leaves as a trusted piece of a program that went 47–23 over the past two seasons. During that span, the Stormers reached the Elite Eight of the NJCAA Division II Men's Basketball National Tournament and produced one of the most dominant single‑season campaigns MATC has ever recorded.
Ivory said the journey to get to this moment was anything but simple.
"God didn't give me the easiest path," Ivory said. "He gave me a story that would remind me every setback was preparing me for the opportunity I almost gave up on."
The 2025–26 season highlighted Ivory's growth and consistency. He carved out a role as one of MATC's most dependable reserve guards, providing efficient shooting and steady playmaking each time he stepped on the floor. Even while averaging 11.3 minutes per game, Ivory made his minutes matter. He shot 40.7% from three, handed out 51 assists, maintained a 1.8 assist‑to‑turnover ratio and kept the offense organized whenever he entered the game.
Ivory also brought value on the defensive end. He totaled 18 steals and 6 blocks as a perimeter defender, showing the awareness and toughness that fit seamlessly within MATC's high‑pressure defensive system.
One of Ivory's brightest moments came on Feb. 16, when he delivered his top scoring performance of the season. In MATC's commanding 125–53 win over Blackhawk Technical College, he scored 9 points and went 3‑for‑4 from deep, turning in one of his most efficient shooting nights of the year.
As it stands, Ivory departs a Stormers squad that rewrote portions of the MATC record book. The 2025-26 team finished with 31 wins, tying the 2018–19 group for the second‑most victories in a single season. MATC earned the No. 3 seed in the national tournament — the highest in program history — reached the Elite Eight, won 24 straight games, went 14–0 at home and spent most of the year ranked No. 5 in NJCAA Division II.
"We are excited for Kam, and we want to wish him the best as he continues his education and basketball career at Governors State University," MATC head coach
Randy Casey said. "His energy and commitment to our program is something that will be missed."
Ivory now becomes the latest Stormer to advance to a four‑year program, continuing MATC's strong tradition of player development and postseason success.
