Record-Breaking Night: Haeft Lifts MATC to 4-0 Win Over Bryant & Stratton

OAK CREEK, Wis. — Katelyn Haeft's scoring prowess reached new heights Wednesday afternoon as the Milwaukee Area Technical College sophomore forward delivered her second hat trick of the season, propelling the Stormers to a commanding 4-0 win over Bryant & Stratton.

The victory marked MATC's first shutout of the year and a milestone moment for Haeft, who now holds the program's single-season scoring record with 11 goals—surpassing the previous mark of nine she set during her breakout freshman campaign in 2024–25.

"It feels really good to break my old record and hold the all-time record for most goals at MATC," Haeft said. "I always put a lot of pressure on myself. I set goals that I had to beat everything I did as a freshman last season. So going into this game, I knew I had to get at least two goals, but obviously I ended up with three. It's nice to accomplish my goals that I set out for myself."

Haeft's relentless drive and leadership have made her the centerpiece of the Stormers' attack, a role head coach Aron "Buddy" Gentry envisioned when she joined the program.

"We definitely put a lot of energy into recruiting Haeft to come here and score goals," Gentry said. "She's lived up to her billing, and she's been a great asset for us, both on and off the field. We hope she continues her streak."

From the opening whistle, MATC controlled the tempo and dictated play. The Stormers dominated possession throughout the first half, outshooting Bryant & Stratton 7-1 overall and 4-0 on goal. Haeft opened the scoring in the 14th minute, calmly converting a penalty kick to give MATC a 1-0 lead heading into the break.

The second half saw the Stormers shift into overdrive. Just 30 seconds after the restart, sophomore midfielder Lia Peterson sliced through the defense and tucked a shot past the keeper to double the lead. MATC continued to press, finishing with 21 total shots—14 on target—while holding Bryant & Stratton to a single attempt.

Haeft capped the performance with goals in the 65th and 87th minutes, showcasing her finishing ability and cementing her place atop the Stormers' record books.

In addition to Haeft's scoring heroics, Stormers goalkeeper Caroline Buczynski earned the first clean sheet of her MATC career. The freshman recorded one save in each half, finishing with two stops on the day. The shutout marked MATC's first since Sept. 28, 2024, in a 3-0 win over Kishwaukee.

"We were working on getting the first shutout of the year," Gentry said. "It was scary at times, but we were able to solidify it, and it was nice to get one for Caroline Buczynski and the team."
