Four Stormers Earn NJCAA All-Region Honors After Historic Season

OAK CREEK, Wis. — Four Milwaukee Area Technical College women's soccer players have earned NJCAA All‑Region honors following a historic 2025‑26 campaign that produced the program's first winning season. The Stormers finished 5‑4‑3 this past fall, marking their second straight year at .500 or better after a 5‑5‑2 record in 2024‑25.

Sophomores Katelyn Haeft and Hannah Christopherson were named to the NJCAA All‑Region 4 First Team, while freshmen Yocelin Valdez‑Galindo and goalkeeper Caroline Buczynski earned Second Team recognition.

"This is a special moment for our program, and I believe this is the first time in program history that we've had four student‑athletes earn all‑region honors, which I couldn't be more proud of," MATC head coach Aron "Buddy" Gentry said. "What stands out is not just their individual accomplishments, but how their collective effort helped elevate our entire team. These four have played a major role in the growth of our program, and our staff couldn't be prouder of the standard they continue to set."

Haeft proved to be the Stormers' most reliable offensive weapon. The second‑year forward started all 12 matches in 2025‑26 and delivered a breakout campaign, scoring 16 goals with four assists for 36 points. Of her 64 total shots, 43 were placed on goal, connecting at a .250 shooting percentage. Her 25 career goals over two seasons now stand as the Stormers' all‑time scoring record.

"Earning First Team recognition feels really good because I know all my hard work and commitment to MATC are being recognized and rewarded," Haeft said. "I know how hard I have worked on and off the pitch to try and earn this honor, and it means a lot to receive such recognition at the collegiate level."

On the other end of the field, Christopherson anchored the defense with equal consistency. The sophomore started in 11 matches and provided steady leadership in the back line. While she added one goal and one assist for three points, her true value came in limiting opponents' chances and maintaining structure in the defensive third.

"I'm extremely honored and proud to have made all-region," Christopherson said. "Being a part of this program at MATC has changed my life and I am so grateful for my experience here…I never thought that playing in college would be possible for me, let alone achieving what I did. Thank you to my coaches and teammates for everything, I'm going to miss this program so much."

Valdez‑Galindo brought balance to the midfield in her freshman season. Starting all 12 matches, she contributed one assist and attempted five shots, placing three on goal for a .600 shots‑on‑goal rate. Though her numbers were modest, her ability to disrupt opposing attacks and protect the back line proved pivotal for the Stormers' overall success.

"Yocelin anchored our midfield with maturity and resilience," Gentry said. "She consistently protected our back line while also sparking attacking opportunities, balancing the responsibilities of both sides of the ball with unwavering composure."

Behind them, Buczynski anchored the defense with a steady presence in goal. The freshman appeared in all 12 matches, starting 10, and logged 990 minutes between the posts. She finished with 85 saves and an .817 save percentage, allowing 19 goals for a 1.73 goals‑against average. Buczynski also recorded three shutouts and delivered crucial stops in key Region 4 matchups, providing the final layer of stability for the squad.

"Caroline delivered several crucial saves against Black Hawk and South Suburban, two of the top teams in our region," Gentry said. "Her development and composure helped solidify our defensive identity this fall."

Together, Haeft, Christopherson, Valdez‑Galindo and Buczynski helped lead MATC to its best season in school history, cementing the Stormers' place as an emerging women's soccer program in NJCAA Region 4 competition.
