PALATINE, Ill. — Milwaukee Area Technical College closed its regular season in convincing fashion Thursday night, rolling past Harper 70–39 on the road to secure its second straight win and finish the year 16–14. The Stormers completed the regular season with an 8–4 home record and an 8–10 mark away from Milwaukee.
"This season was a success, despite a few challenges," MATC head coach
Arom Murrell said. "I'm very proud of the young ladies that gave complete and total effort. This team still has the potential to do some special things in the playoffs."
The opening quarter played even at 14–14, but MATC seized control in the second period with its most dominant defensive stretch of the night. The Stormers outscored Harper 22–5 in the frame, holding the Hawks to a single field goal while generating transition opportunities and clean looks on the other end to take a 36–19 lead into halftime.
MATC carried that momentum into the third quarter, using a 19–7 advantage to put the game out of reach. The Stormers continued to dictate pace, limit second‑chance opportunities and convert efficiently in the half court before closing the night with a steady 15‑13 fourth quarter.
Freshman guard
Laila Hamiel led all scorers with 23 points, including seven in the first quarter to set the tone and eight more in the third to spark MATC's post‑halftime surge. Freshman guard
Emani Summers added 18 points, while freshman point guard
Sa'Nyai Mitchell and sophomore forward
Moriah Landry each finished with 12. Sophomore forward
Lacee Rodriguez rounded out the scoring with six points.
