Stormers’ Rally Falls Short at Olive-Harvey

CHICAGO, Ill. — Milwaukee Area Technical College women's basketball dropped its second straight game Thursday night, falling 71–62 at Olive‑Harvey after the Panthers built a commanding early lead. The loss moves the Stormers to 14–13 overall and 6–9 on the road with three regular season games remaining.

Olive‑Harvey controlled the pace through the opening 20 minutes, edging MATC 13–12 after the first quarter before stretching the margin to 30–21 at halftime. The Stormers struggled to generate momentum out of the break, as the Panthers pushed their lead to 54–32 by the end of the third. MATC finally found its rhythm in the fourth, outscoring Olive‑Harvey 30–17 to close the gap, but the early deficit proved too much to overcome in the nine-point defeat.

"The end of the second quarter and the beginning of the third proved to be too much to overcome," MATC head coach Arom Murrell said. "Costly turnovers, defensive lapses, and bad fouls kept us from prevailing."

Freshman guard Emani Summers paced the Stormers with a team‑high 17 points. Fellow freshman Laila Hamiel followed with 13, edging sophomore Moriah Landry, who added 12. Sa'Nyai Mitchell contributed eight points, while Zihre Sellers chipped in six. Maniyah Wooldridge rounded out the scoring with five.
