CHICAGO HEIGHTS, Ill. — Milwaukee Area Technical College women's basketball rode dominant double‑doubles from freshman guard
Emani Summers and sophomore transfer power forward
Moriah Landry to an 83–50 road win over Prairie State on Saturday afternoon, overwhelming the Pioneers with a 65–40 rebounding advantage that included 35 offensive boards. Summers and Landry each grabbed nine offensive rebounds, powering MATC to its fourth straight victory and improving the Stormers to 14–11 overall and 6–7 on the road.
"Our energy was great," MATC head coach
Arom Murrell said. "Landry had a slow start, but Summers and Mitchell carried us until she got going. Our defense in the first half was excellent. I'm very proud of how we played as a group."
MATC established control from the opening minutes, using its size and activity on the glass to create repeated second‑chance opportunities and build a double‑digit lead by the end of the first quarter. The Stormers outscored Prairie State 19–7 in the opening period and carried a 40–21 advantage into halftime, fueled by their relentless work on the boards. Even as Prairie State collected 14 offensive rebounds of its own, the Pioneers struggled to convert them into points, shooting just 26.3 percent from the field and 1‑for‑12 from three.
Summers and Landry set the tone offensively as well, combining for 31 points while repeatedly extending possessions with their work on the glass. Summers finished with 15 points, 18 rebounds, five assists and four steals in one of her most dominant performances of the season, while Landry added 16 points and 11 boards on 7‑for‑15 shooting to earn her eighth career double‑double as a Stormer. Their combined production helped MATC overcome a 33.3 percent shooting night, as the Stormers compensated with sheer volume, attempting 90 shots to Prairie State's 57.
Freshman point guard
Sa'Nyai Mitchell added 16 points on 6‑for‑12 shooting to give MATC a third double‑figure scorer from its starting lineup, while first‑year center
Maniyah Woolridge posted 10 rebounds and nine points. The Stormers' depth also made an impact, with freshman reserve guard
Laila Hamiel contributing 12 points and three made threes off the bench and sophomore
Rachel Schlies adding four assists and five rebounds. MATC forced 19 turnovers and held Prairie State to 15‑for‑57 shooting, controlling every phase of the game on the way to its longest winning streak of the season.
