GLEN ELLYN, Ill. – The Milwaukee Area Technical College women's basketball team was minutes away from turning a 10-point halftime deficit into a come-from-behind road victory against College of DuPage (COD) Thursday, but a fourth-quarter offensive drought forced them to suffer a 56-50 loss instead.
Trailing 28-18 at halftime, the Stormers quickly went to work to begin the second half by outscoring the Chaparrals 21-14 thanks to the help of eight-point third-quarter performance by freshman
Chloey Bynum. Having now cut its deficit to one possession heading into the final quarter, MATC was eventually able to take a five-point lead with a little under seven minutes remaining. However, things took a turn for the worse over the final five and a half minutes, where the Stormers were held without making a field goal for the remainder of the contest.
The cold shooting stretch in the waning minutes forced MATC to take a 6-point defeat to drop to 7-15 and 4-11 on the road.
Despite the lack of scoring late, the Stormers were still able to outshoot the Chaparrals. MATC finished the evening shooting 27.8 percent (20-of-72) from the field, which was 2.8 percent better than COD.
