ELGIN, Ill. — Milwaukee Area Technical College men's soccer couldn't recover from a first-half scoring surge by Elgin Community College, falling 3-0 on Saturday for its second shutout loss of the season. The Stormers dropped to 0-6-1 overall after conceding all three goals before halftime, leaving little room for a comeback.
"Although the scoreboard doesn't reflect it, the team played with heart and determination," MATC head coach Aron "Buddy" Gentry said. "We faced some unfortunate calls that didn't go our way, but the group never wavered. Our team captains, Christian Hernandez and Gio Guerrero led the charge with their effort and relentless drive. The staff is proud of their commitment and the fight they displayed, we will use this experience to grow as a team."
Elgin converted 13 first-half shots into three goals, scoring in the 13th, 16th and 24th minutes. MATC goalkeeper
Sam Kulibert recorded four saves but allowed three goals before being replaced at halftime by
Maxwell Clarksen. Clarksen held Elgin scoreless over the final 45 minutes and finished with four saves.
The Stormers managed five shots in the opening half and were held scoreless after totaling 9 shots. Freshman midfielder
