SOUTH HOLLAND, Ill. – The Milwaukee Area Technical College women's basketball team fought through a rough start Tuesday evening on the road against South Suburban before dropping a 63-43 contest during American Cancer Society/NABC Coaches vs. Cancer Suits and Sneakers Week.
As flashy as the Stormers looked pregame, their offense proved to be anything but dull. MATC totaled just four made baskets (4-of-38) throughout the entire first half, including an underwhelming four-point effort in the second quarter.
Trailing 36-12 at halftime, the Stormers managed to pick things up after the brief intermission. In the third quarter, MATC was only outscored 14-12 before going on to outplay the Bulldogs over the final 10 minutes. The Stormers outproduced South Suburban 19-13 in the fourth, which allowed them to finish the second half shooting 35.7 percent (10-of-28) from the field over the last 20 minutes.
As a collective unit, MATC finished the game shooting 21.2 percent (14-of-66) from the field and 33.3 percent from deep (5-of-15). The eighth road loss of the season moved MATC to 7-13 overall this season.
