JOLIET, Ill. – All season long the Milwaukee Area Technical College women's basketball team has routinely found itself falling behind by double-digits in the first half. Whether it be at home or away, the Stormers have routinely allowed themselves to get behind the eight-ball and on Saturday against Joliet Junior College, things proved to be no different following a 90-48 road defeat.
Having shown signs of first-quarter struggles all season long, the Stormers immediately found themselves on the opposite end of a 30-17 first-quarter lead. Feeling the heat early, MATC's offense went completely cold in the second quarter to the tune of scoring just six second-quarter points combined. The Stormers' early offensive struggles put them on the wrong end of a 21-6 second-quarter run that forced their squad to trail 51-23 at halftime.
To nobody's surprise, the 28-point halftime deficit was too much of a long uphill battle to overcome in the second half. Between the final two quarters, MATC was outscored 49-25.
As a result, the Stormers move to 6-12 on the year and 3-8 on the road.
