CRYSTAL LAKE, Ill. – Despite getting a career night offensively by sophomore
Alexis Ayers, the Milwaukee Area Technical College women's basketball team wasn't able to outmatch McHenry County College Tuesday.
The Stormers suffered a 78-74 road loss to the Scots in a game that Ayers poured in a career-high 36 points on 47.1 percent shooting from the floor (8-of-17). She buried three triples and went 17-of-18 from the stripe, but it wasn't enough to overcome a less than ideal shooting display as a collective unit.
MATC only shot 29.9 percent (20-of-67) from the field as a team while totaling 27 turnovers. The combination of carelessness and numerous missed shots ultimately proved to be the difference in the four-point defeat, leaving the Stormers to drop to 3-7 overall.
Apart from Ayers' brilliance, MATC's offense struggled outside of freshman
Arlinda Roundtree, who was the only other Stormer to finish in double figures after scoring 21 points on 6-of-13 shooting from the field. The rest of MATC's lineup excluding Ayers and Roundtree combined for six-made baskets on 16.2 percent shooting from the field (6-of-37).
STAT BOOK
Ayers led the Stormers with 36 points, five steals, four assists and a pair of rebounds. Roundtree added 21 points, six rebounds, three assists, and three steals. Freshman

Makayla Carney had six points and seven steals.
UP NEXT The Stormers (3-7) will travel to Port Huron, Mich., to compete in the Skippers Classic against St. Clair County at 5 p.m. on Dec. 6.
