OAK CREEK, Wis. — Milwaukee Area Technical College sophomore catcher Riley Emons, once a walk-on who carved out a meaningful role with the Stormers, has signed with the University of Wisconsin–Platteville to continue his baseball career at the NCAA Division III level. The West Allis native will head west to join a Pioneers program in Platteville, Wisconsin, competing in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, where the team finished 21–19 last spring.

Emons is coming off a solid sophomore campaign in which he appeared in 22 games, logging 62 plate appearances and 56 at-bats. He hit .214 with a .279 on-base percentage and .547 OPS, collecting 12 hits — including three doubles — while driving in nine runs, scoring six, drawing four walks, and stealing three bases. Behind the dish, he caught 28.2 innings and threw out three runners attempting to steal.

His production this spring capped a steady two-year rise within the program. Across his MATC career, Emons totaled more than 100 at-bats, recorded seven doubles, and maintained a 1:1 walk-to-strikeout ratio. Defensively, he posted a career fielding percentage above .975 while splitting time between catcher and first base, and he threw out 27 percent of opposing baserunners.

"Riley was a leader and a captain of this team," MATC head coach Caleb Bounds said. "His leadership will be missed. I'm excited to watch him grow over the next couple of years, and I expect to see his name in the lineup a ton at UW–Platteville. We wish him the best of luck."

With a strong foundation built at MATC, Emons now heads to Platteville ready to contribute at the Division III level, becoming the latest Stormer to advance to a four-year program.
