MATC’s Cefalu Signs With UW–Eau Claire

OAK CREEK, Wis. — Milwaukee Area Technical College baseball is proud to announce that sophomore reliever Charlie Cefalu has signed with the University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire. The 6‑foot‑2, 200‑pound right‑hander from New Berlin moves from the NJCAA to the NCAA Division III level and will join a Blugolds program that went 21–21 this past season in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

Cefalu's commitment follows a high‑energy, competitive spring in which he appeared in 10 games, throwing 13.2 innings, striking out 17 batters and allowing nine earned runs on 15 hits. Opponents hit .268 against him; he issued 15 walks but consistently attacked hitters and competed in traffic‑heavy situations. His strikeout ability and willingness to take the ball in any role made him a dependable option for the Stormers all season.

Across his two‑year Stormers career, Cefalu logged 18 appearances and 23.1 innings, going 1–0 and striking out 28 batters. He regularly embraced late‑inning pressure, handled a wide range of relief roles and consistently brought competitive energy to the mound.

MATC head coach Caleb Bounds praised Cefalu's growth and outlook.

"I'm really excited for Chuck," Bounds said. "He's going to a great program in Eau Claire, and I know he's going to be successful. We're excited to watch him continue to grow."

Cefalu now heads to Eau Claire ready to contribute to a program known for pitching depth and to continue his development at the next level.
