OAK CREEK, Wis. — Milwaukee Area Technical College baseball is proud to highlight that freshman infielder Gavin Garnica has signed with St. Cloud State University. He'll move on to St. Cloud State in St. Cloud, Minnesota, a Division II baseball program that plays in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.

Playing primarily at third, Garnica appeared in 49 games this season and finished as one of MATC's most consistent offensive contributors. He collected 39 hits in 143 at‑bats, drove in 29 runs and drew 19 walks across 165 plate appearances, finishing with a .273 batting average, .364 on‑base percentage and .399 slugging percentage. Garnica also showcased gap power, collecting 13 extra‑base hits (10 doubles, a triple and two home runs) and was hit by a pitch twice. 

"Gavin was great for us this year," MATC head coach Caleb Bounds said. "He started at 3B and 2B during the year. He played in 48 of our 55 games. Gavin will be missed, but I'm excited for his future at St. Cloud State."

Garnica's size and strength made him a steady presence for the Stormers throughout the season. He now heads to St. Cloud State ready to contribute at the next level and is the latest Stormer to move on to a four‑year school.
