Carani Sets Pace as MATC Softball Lands Two on All-Region Team

OAK CREEK, Wis. — Milwaukee Area Technical College softball is proud to announce that sophomore outfielder Mia Carani and freshman second baseman Amira Baldon have been named to the 2026 NJCAA Division II All‑Region 4 Team for their performances during the 2025–26 season. The honor marks the first All‑Region recognition for both players. Carani earned one of 14 First Team spots, while Baldon secured a place on the Second Team as one of 13 honorees across the region. Carani set the pace for the Stormers throughout the spring, building on her strong freshman year with a sophomore campaign that pushed her into the upper echelon of Region 4 hitters. In 48 games, she slashed .453/.519/.755 across 139 at‑bats and finished with 63 hits, 41 runs, 33 RBIs, 17 doubles, two triples and seven home runs. Her numbers placed her among the region's elite, ranking ninth in doubles, 10th in batting average, ninth in on‑base percentage and 10th in slugging percentage. Her seven homers tied her for 14th‑most in Region 4, part of a four‑player cluster that highlighted the depth of power across the region.

Across two seasons with MATC, Carani appeared in 91 games and produced a career slash line of .414/.493/.757 with 99 hits, 70 runs, 67 RBIs and 18 home runs. Her consistency and power at the plate place her firmly among the most accomplished hitters ever to wear a Stormers uniform.

"I am so proud of Mia," MATC head coach Joe Kuntner said. "She has grown so much from the moment she walked through our doors and turned herself into a complete softball player. Her selection is well deserved and long overdue."

Baldon joined Carani on the All‑Region list after a breakout freshman campaign that immediately positioned her as one of the top newcomers in the region. She slashed .435/.470/.861 over 108 at‑bats and totaled 47 hits, 28 runs, 40 RBIs, 15 doubles, five triples and seven home runs. Her .861 slugging percentage ranked fourth in Region 4, and her seven home runs tied her for 14th‑most, matching Carani and two Rock Valley players. Furthermore, she struck out only four times in 108 at‑bats, which further showcased her ability to pair elite contact with significant power.

"Amira worked her way into the everyday lineup with her ability to make solid contact every time she stepped to the plate," Kuntner said. "She had a great year offensively, and we're expecting even bigger things from her next season. Amira has the potential to rewrite several offensive records by the time her career is finished."

Together, Carani and Baldon anchored the heart of MATC's lineup, and their All‑Region selections reflect the elevated standard the program has established under Kuntner since setting the single‑season wins record with 32 victories in 2025.
