OAK CREEK, Wis. — Milwaukee Area Technical College is excited to share that freshman catcher and outfielder Lily Dermyer is taking the next step in her softball journey, advancing to NCAA Division III competition after signing with Carthage College in Kenosha, Wisconsin. She will join the Firebirds this fall, stepping into a program that competes in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW). 

Dermyer's move comes after a freshman campaign that showcased both her versatility and her growth within the Stormers program. The 5‑foot‑9 Racine native appeared in 24 games this past spring, contributing 11 hits, 10 runs, a triple and a home run while adding seven RBIs and seven stolen bases. She posted a .234 batting average and handled duties at both catcher and the outfield, giving MATC valuable flexibility throughout the year. Her defensive work was equally as impressive, totaling 46 putouts, 12 assists and a .951 fielding percentage, along with four runners caught stealing and two double plays turned.

Her impact extended beyond the field. Dermyer earned NFCA All‑America Scholar‑Athlete honors and NJCAA All‑Academic Third Team recognition, underscoring her commitment to academic excellence during her first collegiate season.
MATC head coach Joe Kuntner said Dermyer quickly became a difference‑maker.

"Lily came to MATC from South Milwaukee and UW‑Parkside and made an immediate impact on our program," Kuntner said. "As a freshman, she caught, played in the outfield, continued to grow as a hitter and showed the toughness, work ethic and competitiveness that define a Stormer. Her first collegiate home run this season against Rock Valley was a moment we will not forget.

More importantly, Lily has been an outstanding teammate and person. She embraced our program, competed every day and pushed herself to become a better player."

Dermyer becomes the latest Stormer to advance to a four‑year program, continuing MATC softball's tradition of developing student‑athletes who excel in competition and in the classroom.
