MATC Softball Adds Taylor Johnson and Mike Krznarich to Coaching Staff

MILWAUKEE, Wis. — Milwaukee Area Technical College softball is pleased to announce the addition of Taylor Johnson and Mike Krznarich to its coaching staff for the 2027 spring season. Johnson is a former all-state player, and Krznarich is a veteran coach with more than 350 career victories. Together, they join a Stormers program coming off a deep postseason run where they advanced all the way to the NJCAA Region 4 quarterfinal round in 2026.

Johnson, a four-year starter at Greenfield High School, brings recent experience as both a player and a coach. Krznarich, meanwhile, has spent more than 25 years coaching at the recreational, travel and high school levels.

"I couldn't be more excited to welcome Mike Krznarich and Taylor Johnson to the MATC Stormers softball coaching staff," Stormers head coach Joe Kuntner said. "These are exciting times for Stormers Softball, and I can't wait to see what we accomplish together."

Taylor Johnson
A 2018 graduate of Greenfield High School, Johnson was a local four-year varsity starter in softball and hit .680 as a senior. Her prep softball career brought a run of honors, starting with first-team all-Woodland Conference selections in 2017 and 2018. In 2017, she also earned first-team All-Suburban recognition and second-team all-state honors, and she added honorable mention all-state honors in 2018.

Despite those accolades, Johnson turned down multiple college softball opportunities to study nursing at Marquette University, choosing to focus on her academic and professional goals. Yet, the game still eventually pulled her back to the diamond. In 2025, she returned to Greenfield as varsity assistant softball coach, where she drew on her playing experience to share her knowledge of the game, support the development of student-athletes and give back to the program that helped shape her career.

Mike Krznarich
Krznarich brings a longer track record, built on hard work, preparation, accountability and trust. At the high school level, he guided teams to three regional championships, two at Greendale High School and one at Pius XI.

His resume runs even deeper on the travel circuit, where he has since posted a 258-120-9 record as head coach of the Milwaukee Invaders. His travel clubs have won Amateur Softball Association and National Softball Association Class B state championships, earned six top-10 finishes at NSA Nationals and won more than 20 tournament titles.

Johnson and Krznarich join the staff as the Stormers wrap up their fall ball schedule at the end of October and prepare for the 2027 spring season.
