OAK CREEK, Wis. — The Milwaukee Area Technical College women's soccer team opened its 2025-26 season with grit and determination Saturday, battling Waubonsee Community College to a scoreless draw in a back-and-forth affair.
Freshman goalkeeper
Caroline Buczynski led the way for the Stormers with a standout performance anchoring the back line. The first-year keeper recorded 12 saves over a full 90 minutes to earn the clean sheet. In total, she faced 13 shots, including seven on goal.
Offensively, the Stormers totaled 11 shots, with second-year forward
Katelyn Haeft leading the charge. Haeft tallied five shots and a team-high three on goal. Freshman forward
Gracie New also added a shot on target.
"We didn't have as many opportunities as we'd hoped," MATC assistant coach Sarah Sweeney said. "We probably only had one or two shots on goal, so we actually need to try and take more shots on goal."
Despite the draw, the result marked a promising start for MATC as the team looks to build on a solid 2024-25 campaign, which ended with a 5-5-2 record.
