OAK CREEK, Wis. — Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC) is proud to announce that sophomore pitcher Luke Klekamp has signed with the University of Wisconsin–Parkside, where he will continue his academic and athletic pursuits beginning next fall.
Klekamp joins the Rangers' baseball program, a member of the NCAA Division II Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC), following a standout two-year career with the Stormers. His commitment marks another milestone for MATC's baseball program, which continues to develop talent for the next level. Klekamp becomes the latest Stormer to make the jump from NJCAA Division II to NCAA Division II, following in the footsteps of teammate
Michael Merline, who also recently committed to UW-Parkside.
"I'm really excited to keep playing baseball next year, especially going with one of my good friends [Merline]," Klekamp said. "I think me and Mike will do great things at UW-Parkside and I hope to win as many games as possible."
Over two seasons at MATC, Klekamp emerged as one of the team's most reliable arms. He appeared in 28 games, including 18 starts and 10 relief outings, compiling six wins and striking out 115 batters across 99.2 innings. He wraps up his Stormers career with a 4.24 earned run average (ERA).
Klekamp's 2024-25 campaign was particularly impressive. The right-hander made 11 appearances (nine starts), posting a 4-4 record with a 3.19 ERA and a 1.16 WHIP in 37.2 innings pitched. He led the pitching staff with 70 strikeouts and held opposing hitters to a .197 batting average.
"Luke was an outstanding leader both on and off the field," said Stormers head coach
Caleb Bounds. "He consistently gave us a chance to win, and his poise on the mound helped set the tone for our entire pitching staff. UW–Parkside is getting a fierce competitor and a great teammate. I'm excited to see him take the next step."
Outside of furthering his career on the diamond with the Rangers, Klekamp plans to study business management.
