SUGAR GROVE, Ill. – Two days fresh off hitting her first college home run via a grand slam in walk-off fashion against College of Lake County Thursday, Milwaukee Area Technical College infielder
Mia Carani kept up her hot-streak at the plate by barreling two more homers in a 9-7 win over Waubonsee Saturday during the second game of a doubleheader.
Carani's power in Game 2 helped lift MATC to a two-run road victory and series split with the Chiefs after the Stormers fell, 6-1, in Game 1. As a result of the doubleheader split with Waubonsee, the Stormers moved to 10-13 and 10-8 in region play.
"I am proud of our girls because they didn't give up," MATC head coach Joe Kuntner said. "We started doing the little things, such as taking our walks and sacrificing [in Game 2]. Ultimately, that led to Mia's [Carani] big moment to shine."
