KANKAKEE, Ill. – The Milwaukee Area Technical College baseball team had a hard time keeping up with Kankakee Community College during its road doubleheader Saturday. The Stormers' offense struggled at the plate, totaling just three hits over two shutout losses to the Cavaliers.
MATC dropped the opening game 8-0 before taking a 10-0 loss in the nightcap. It left the Stormers to fall to 10-12 on the year.
"Two really tough games against two really good arms," Stormers head coach
Caleb Bounds said. "It's tough to get anything going when we don't get any guys on base, and KCC's pitchers did a really good job at limiting that from happening. We just have to bounce back and get ready for Tuesday."
Game 1: KCC 8, Stormers 0 (7 Innings)
- KCC jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the first before never looking back
- MATC totaled just two hits compared to 13 strikeouts on offense
- Bryant Armijo-Martin and Ryan Quello each had singles
- Carlito Collins drew a walk
- Jake Catalano took the loss, giving up five runs (three earned) on six hits while striking out six and walking five over four innings
- Zach Johnson threw one scoreless inning of relief
Game 2: KCC 10, Stormers 0 (5 Innings)
KCC recorded five hits in the second, helping score nine runs to take a 9-0 lead
