PALOS HILLS, Ill. – Despite a career night by freshman
Noah Daniels, the Milwaukee Area Technical College men's basketball team wasn't able to pull off a road win over Moraine Valley Saturday.
Daniels finished the first half going a perfect 7-for-7 from the field before going on to set a new career-high with 29 points. It bested his previous career-high of 21 points set back on Nov. 21, but it was the Cyclones who earned the 103-88 victory over the Stormers.
"Daniels had a great first half, going 7-for-7 and keeping us in the game," Stormers head coach
Randy Casey said. "The last few games he's shown that capability, particularly against Bryant & Stratton. He's shown continued growth throughout the season and we will need him to continue it down the stretch."
MATC took a 10-point deficit into halftime and was outscored 43-38 throughout the second half, which left them to drop to 11-16 and 5-10 on the road. Collectively, the Stormers did their part on offense. They connected on 34-of-66 shot attempts, including a 10-for-28 mark from three-point range. At the charity stripe, MATC shot 83.3 percent on a dozen attempts.
As well as its offense played, MATC's defense struggled to contain Moraine Valley. They allowed the Cyclones to shoot 56.1 percent from the field on 66 attempts. Its perimeter defense allowed 39 points from deep after Moraine Valley finished the contest going 13-for-29 on 3-pointers.
