MILWAUKEE, Wis. – Milwaukee Area Technical College baseball sophomore
George Henkel has committed to continue his education and play baseball at Winona State University.
Winona State University is a National College Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II school located in Winona, Minnesota. They are a member of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) and compete against schools from Illinois, Minnesota, Nebraska, and South Dakota.
This season George had 16 appearances, pitched 20 innings and went 2 for 2 on saves. He averaged a strike out per inning and had the third lowest BABA (batting average against) on the staff with a .235.
"I'm super proud of George. He was a leader on this team, and was a big reason for the teams success," head baseball coach Caleb Bounds said. "Winona is getting a huge competitor, and someone that is going to really bolster a staff. We are excited to watch George succeed at Winona."
