Peyton Seebacher homered to help the Milwaukee Area Technical College baseball team pick up a doubleheader sweep over Harper College in Region 4 action on Monday. MATC took game one 18-2 in five innings, and then completed the sweep with a 12-5 game two win.
Game 1 – MATC 18, Harper 2
Daniel Flores drove in five runs on three hits to lead the Stormers past Harper College Hawks 18-2 in game one of Monday's doubleheader. Flores hit a home run in to right filed in the second scoring three, singled in the fourth scoring one, and a doubled in the fifth scoring one.
The Stormers scored eight runs on seven hits in the top of the fourth inning to take a commanding lead.
Scotty Savage singled, scoring two runs,
Robert Crawford III tripled, scoring three runs, Flores singled, scoring one run, and
Peyton Seebacher doubled, scoring one run.
Ben Tietyen got the start on the hill for the Stormers. He surrendered three hits and two runs over four innings, striking out two and walking four.
Justin Schnell tossed one inning for scoreless ball for the Stormers. In relief, he allowed zero hits, striking out two and walking none.
Game 2 – MATC 12, Harper 5
The bats continued to stay alive for the Stormers in game two as they got the 12-5 victory over Harper College to secure the sweep.
MATC was first to get on the board when
Peyton Seebacher singled, scoring one run in the first. The Stormers added to the lead in the second after Harper committed an error, and Rand Quello stole home. In the third Seebacher homered to right field, scoring two runs and
Cole Baier singled and scoring one. Jaiden Jun homered to left field, scoring two more runs in the seventh to extend the lead to seven.
Luke Klekamp got the start for MATC and surrendered one hit and one run over four innings. He struck out five and walked six.
Pierce Nelson threw one and one-third innings in relief. The righty gave up one hit, striking out one, and walking none.
MATC will be back in action at home on Wednesday (4/10/24) against Rockford University JV.
