MILWAUKEE, Wis. – Five Milwaukee Area Technical College men's basketball players scored in double figures on Thursday against Elgin, but it wasn't enough to help lift the Stormers to their first road win of the 2024-25 season.
In a back-and-forth first half that left MATC trailing 45-42 heading into halftime, the Stormers found themselves enduring a 102-96 defeat to drop to 1-6 and 0-3 on the road.
While MATC shot 48 percent from the field (36-for-75), including an impressive 54.1 percent mark in the second half, they weren't able to overcome its 25 turnovers against the Spartans. Another major difference between the two squads came at the charity stripe. MATC connected on just 57.1 percent of their free throws (12-of-21) compared to Elgin, who finished 80 percent (12-of-15).
One of the key areas MATC did find success was on the glass. They out-rebounded Elgin 50-34, including 20 offensive rebounds, six of which came from sophomore
Jayquan Hickles. The second-year center finished the night just shy of a double-double, totaling 18 points and nine rebounds.
Freshman
Noah Daniels led the Stormers' scoring attack with a team-high 21 points. He also added four rebounds, three assists and one steal.
Sophomore
Antonio Foxwell notched a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds, including a 4-of-6 mark from deep. Freshman
Ky'Moni Hunt and sophomore
Matthew Hoarde each finished with 10 points.
