OAK CREEK, Wis. — Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC) proudly announces that sophomore outfielder
Carlito Collins has signed a commitment to continue his academic and athletic careers at Warner University, a nationally recognized NAIA institution located in Lake Wales, Florida.
Collins, a well-rounded and versatile player from Chicago, will head to the Sun Conference as part of the Warner Royals baseball program this upcoming fall, bringing with him two seasons of consistent play from his time with the MATC Stormers.
"Warner University had everything I was looking for — a strong academic environment, a competitive baseball program, and an incredible coaching staff — and it's located in Florida, which makes it even more exciting," Collins said. "I'm super excited to head down there this fall, compete with the new guys, and represent MATC with pride."
During his tenure with the Stormers, Collins developed into a reliable and impactful contributor both at the plate and in the outfield. Across more than 200 plate appearances, he collected 43 hits, including seven doubles, four triples, and two home runs. His speed on the basepaths also set him apart, swiping 25 stolen bases and drawing 29 walks over his two-year career.
Collins is coming off a career-best season in 2024–25, where he cemented himself as a key piece of the Stormers' starting lineup. He appeared in over 40 games, starting regularly in the outfield, and posted a strong slash line of .264/.368/.409. In total, he recorded 29 hits, drove in 20 runs, scored 23 times, and stole 13 bases in 110 at-bats.
"I'm really excited for Carlito and the opportunity that lies ahead for him," said Stormers head coach
Caleb Bounds. "He's heading to a great program at Warner, and they're getting a player who brings energy, passion, and effort every single day. Carlito was instrumental in our success this season, and his presence in the outfield and in the dugout will definitely be missed."
Collins now joins a long list of MATC student-athletes who have successfully transitioned to four-year institutions to continue their athletic and academic journeys. His signing to Warner not only marks the next step in his baseball career, but also reflects MATC's commitment to student success on and off the field.
