Charlotte, NC - Milwaukee Area Technical College Athletics and the NJCAA are proud to celebrate National Girls and Women in Sports Day on February 5, 2025. This day recognizes the accomplishments of girls and women nationwide while promoting equality in sports. The association is thrilled to celebrate its storied history as the first intercollegiate organization to have a women's division. This year is also the 50th anniversary of the women's division in the NJCAA.
This year's theme will build upon our theme from NJCAA Day, EmpowHER the Future, as we continue to encourage others to consider the two-year route by acknowledging the success and accomplishments of former and current NJCAA women's student-athletes. With 50 years of history, the NJCAA has seen many incredible and powerful women build up young men and women to be exceptional athletes and people.
"The NJCAA is proud to celebrate National Girls and Women in Sports Day once again," Dr. Christopher Parker, NJCAA President & CEO, said. "The NJCAA holds a rich history with women in college athletics. Lea Plarski's guidance to begin the women's division began a movement that has impacted college athletics at all levels in a big way."
The NJCAA became the first intercollegiate organization to establish a women's division in 1975 and currently hosts 30 national championships and invitationals.
