MILWAUKEE, Wis - The Milwaukee Area Technical College Stormers women's basketball team was outmatched by the Concordia University-Wisconsin Falcons junior varsity team Thursday night at the Reiman Gymnasium, 51-33.
MATC grabbed an early 2-0 lead but CUW went on a 19-2 run to end the quarter and take a 15 point lead into the second quarter. The Falcons led by as many as 22 points in the first half before taking a 28-9 lead into halftime.
MATC converted just four field goals in the first half and shot just over 13% while going 0-9 from behind the arc.
MATC cut into the Falcons lead in the third quarter as MATC got the hot hand. The Stormers outscored CUW 17-10 in the quarter while shooting 40% and cutting the CUW lead to a dozen.
The fourth quarter was full of struggles for the Stormers, however. They turned the ball over eight times and shot just 1-15 from the field, including 0-4 from distance.
Tara Jefferson led MATC in both points and rebounds, registering a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Daniela Thomas scored seven points to go with four steals and
Nwoye Green had 6 points, 10 rebounds, 4 steals, and 2 blocks.
The Stormers are on the road until December 30 when they return to the Reiman Gymnasium to play the University of Wisconsin-Waukesha at 6 p.m.
