MILWAUKEE, Wis - The MATC men's basketball team played without starters Evan Runkel and Antoine Carlisle, each averaged 21 minutes over the first two games. That may have led to a slow start as the College of Lake County jumped out to a 7-0 lead on Tuesday night in the Reiman Gymnasium at Alverno College.

That is when Kyan Pleasant heated up, scoring seven straight points for MATC and tying the game. Pleasant would score 9 of the Stormers first 11 points to keep MATC in the game early on. MATC and Lake County went back-and-forth early in the first half, but MATC pulled away to grab a 52-28 halftime lead and went on to win 103-68. It was the second straight game that MATC scored over 100 points.

MATC continued their hot second half shooting this season, hitting on nearly 57% of their field goals and almost 49% for the game. The Stormers also controlled the paint, out rebounding the Lancers 59-42, outscoring Lake County in the paint, 60-28, and scoring 21 second chance points to just 9 for the Lancers.

Pleasant led MATC with 23 points. He added seven rebounds and a team-high four steals. Deonta Williams added 13 points, Dionne Triggs scored 12 points, and Cornin Daniel finished with 10 points. Deidrick Hubbard led the team with 12 rebounds and Damon Simpson, Jr. had 11 boards.

MATC will play Elgin Community College in the Reiman Gymnasium at Alverno College on Friday, November 11. The women play at 5 p.m. and the men will follow immediately after the women's game.
