MILWAUKEE, Wis - For the second straight game, the MATC Stormer women's basketball team got off to a slow start. Unlike the previous game, they were able to rebound and dominated Fox Valley Technical College the rest of the way en route to a 64-47 win at the Reiman Gymnasium on Friday night.
After Fox Valley took the nine point first quarter lead, MATC went on a 9-0 run to end the first quarter and pull the score to 14-12. The game went back-and-forth in the second quarter, which featured three ties. Once the Stormers took the lead, they never looked back.
MATC outscored the Foxes 24-16 in the third quarter and 12-6 in the fourth quarter to even their season record at 1-1.
MATC owned the rebounding column, outrebounding Fox Valley 61-45 and hauling in 23 offensive boards. The Stormers shot 34.3% from the field while holding Fox Valley to under 24% shooting in the game.Â
Both teams freely launched three-pointers with MATC converting on 7-of-28 and Fox Valley connecting on 7-of-30. The Foxes managed to get to the free throw line just six times in the game, making four of their attempts. MATC was 11-of-16 from the charity stripe.Â
