MOLINE, Ill. – A slow start paired with a lack of defense left the Milwaukee Area Technical College men's basketball team to be on the wrong side of a 101-83 defeat to Black Hawk College on Saturday during its regular season finale.
As a result of the 18-point road loss, the Stormers concluded the 2025 regular season with a 12-17 overall record.
"We started the game with no energy and Black Hawk took advantage of that and we never recovered from that," MATC head coach
Randy Casey said. "With the playoffs starting on Thursday, we have to learn from this and come out with more intensity. It is win or go home time."
Coming off a blowout win over Madison, it was expected that the Stormers wouldn't come out so flat. However, that did not seem to be the case as MATC fell behind by double-digits early on and eventually took a 49-36 deficit into the intermission.
Much like the first half, the Stormers struggled to contain the Braves' offense. They allowed Black Hawk to finish the evening shooting 54.8 percent from the field (40-for-79) and 51.9 percent on 3-pointers (14-for-27).
It was a far cry from the Stormers' offense, who connected on 43.3 percent (26-for-60) of all of their shots. MATC hit 34.5 percent (10-for-29) of its 3-pointers and nearly finished with as many turnovers (13) as they had in combined assists (15).
