MADISON, Wis. — The Milwaukee Area Technical College women's volleyball team saw its bid for a second consecutive trip to the NJCAA Division II National Tournament end Saturday, falling to Harper College 3-0 (25-21, 25-18, 25-16) in the semifinal round of the NJCAA Division II Region 4 Midwest A District Tournament.
The Stormers, who entered the postseason with one of the nation's most aggressive serving attacks, were held in check. MATC managed just seven aces against five service errors while struggling in serve receive with 20 errors that fueled 15 Harper aces.
After a promising first set in which MATC hit .280, the Stormers' offense unraveled. They posted a negative hitting percentage in the second set (-.087) and finished the match with 23 kills against 18 errors for a .061 efficiency. Harper capitalized with 34 kills and a .209 hitting percentage, led by Jocelyn Erling's 10 kills.
The loss closed the Stormers' season at 30-12 overall, including a dominant 9-1 record at home. It also marked the program's third straight winning campaign and second consecutive year with 30 or more victories after finishing 34-8 in 2024. "We missed an opportunity and I am sad, especially for the sophomores, about that," Stormers head coach
Shel DeLisle said.
"We have regularly struggled with consistency and that was apparent today. With a loss like this, it is important to remember that we had a good season, a winning season, and we can still build upon that." Freshman outside hitter
Kayleah Laughlin paced MATC with a team-high seven points, finishing with five kills and a pair of solo blocks despite battling inconsistency at the net.

Natalia Farrugia added five kills on a .235 hitting percentage and chipped in three digs and a block assist. Freshman middle
Annika Romine provided one of the most efficient offensive efforts, hitting .500 with three kills and two service aces to spark momentum in stretches.

Allison Chapman contributed three kills along with a solo block and a block assist, while freshman setter
Hope Martens directed the offense with nine assists, two aces and five digs.
Rachel Krueger added two kills, an ace and four digs, while
Kimberly Busateri anchored the defense with a team‑high nine digs, two assists and an ace to keep rallies alive.
Collectively, the Stormers closed the match with 18 kills on a .061 hitting percentage, seven service aces, three solo blocks, two block assists and 34 digs.
