NEW BERLIN, Wis. — The Milwaukee Area Technical College women's volleyball team cruised to its fourth consecutive victory Wednesday evening, sweeping host Bryant & Stratton 3-0 (25-11, 25-6, 25-17) by a combined 41 points. It marked the 12th shutout win of the season for the Stormers.
A key factor in MATC's dominance was its efficient offensive attack. The Stormers hit .250 or better in all three sets, starting at .250 in the first, surging to a staggering .593 in the second, and finishing with a .269 clip in the third.
Defensively, the Stormers were just as sharp. They held Bryant & Stratton to a .000 hitting percentage in the first set, followed by -.130 in the second and -.429 in the third.
Freshman outside hitter
Kayleah Laughlin led the charge with 11 points, showcasing a balanced offensive and defensive performance. She tallied eight kills on 16 attempts for a .375 hitting percentage, added a service ace, and contributed at the net with one solo block and two block assists.
Sophomore middle hitter
Natalia Farrugia matched Laughlin with 11 points, fueled by her standout serving. She delivered six service aces — half of the team's total — and added three kills with a .333 hitting percentage. She also chipped in one solo block and two block assists. Sophomore outside hitter
Rachel Krueger was highly efficient, scoring 10.5 points with eight kills on just 12 swings for a .667 hitting percentage. She added two service aces and a block assist.
Freshman middle hitter
Allison Chapman made the most of her limited time on the court, scoring seven points in just two sets. She was perfect offensively, going 6-for-6 with a 1.000 hitting percentage, and added two block assists.
First-year middle hitter
Annika Romine rounded out the top five with 5.5 points, contributing across multiple categories. She had two kills, a service ace, and was active at the net with one solo block and three assists.
