Stormers Can’t Capitalize, Fall Again at Home

OAK CREEK, Wis. — The Milwaukee Area Technical College men's soccer team failed to secure its first win of the season, falling 3-1 to Bryant & Stratton College at home Wednesday. The loss dropped the Stormers to 0-5-1 this fall.

"We just need to finish our opportunities," MATC head coach Aron "Buddy" Gentry said. "Our immaturity and lack of stability with playing smart reared its ugly head again."

A converted penalty kick in the 14th minute put the Bobcats on the board early. They continued to press, earning seven first-half corner kicks. One of those led directly to another goal in the 20th minute, extending MATC's deficit to 2-0.

Freshman forward Adam Turay provided a spark late in the half, scoring unassisted from about 45 yards out to cut the margin to 2-1 heading into the break.

"I thought Turay's goal was impressive because it was against the run of play," Gentry said. "I'm glad he picked his head up, noticed that the goalie was off his line, and had confidence in himself to take the shot."

Less than 10 minutes into the second half, Bryant & Stratton answered with its third goal, slipping one past MATC keeper Sam Kulibert. Kulibert finished with four saves on seven shots on goal. The Stormers finished with 18 shots — seven on goal — and two corner kicks.
