ESCANABA, Mich. — Despite getting a new career high from sophomore
Antonio Foxwell, the Milwaukee Area Technical College men's basketball team was not able to upset No. 18 ranked Bay College during the Terrace Bay Hotel Holiday Classic this past weekend.
Foxwell scored a game-high 33 points on 12-of-21 shooting from the field (57.1 percent) and a perfect 7-for-7 performance from the stripe. As dominant as he was, it wasn't enough to lift the Stormers to victory as they fell 95-81 to drop to 5-11 on the season.
MATC broke the 0-0 tie after two made free throws by Freshman
Julian Valentine, but that was the only point in which the Stormers held a lead. From that point forward, Bay College took control following a made 3-pointer by Josh Williams and never looked back.
A glaring factor in the double-digit defeat were the costly turnovers by the Stormers. MATC totaled 18 turnovers, which resulted in 27 points off turnovers by Bay College. Collectively, the Stormers were able to somewhat counteract their miscues by totaling 19 second chance points and outrebounding Bay College 30-23.
