Danville, Ill. – In the second game of the afternoon on Championship Saturday (3/23/19), the Fifth Place Game of the 2019 NJCAA Division II Men's Basketball National Championship pitted Milwaukee Area Technical College against John Wood Community College.

D'Angelo Young-Pryor each had four points in the first three minutes of play, in a slow starting first half on the scoreboard.
At the 15:55 mark, a Gentry Whiteman three for John Wood started a 10-0 run for the Blazers, ending at the 13:27 mark.
The two teams would continue to trade buckets back and forth, with John Wood leading for the rest of the half by at least three points the rest of the way.
Cory Miller Jr. of John Wood would score four points in the final 45 seconds of the half, to put the Blazers up 43-35 at halftime.

The second half MATC came storming back. Starting out with a 10-0 run to begin the half, Milwaukee Area Technical College claimed the lead at 45-43 with 17:42 left, marking their first lead of the game since the 15:56 point when they led 6-4.
MATC went on three more substantial runs of 10-0, 8-0, and 12-2, all within the first 13 minutes of the second half, totaling 42-11, and ending at the 6:20 mark.
The second half was all Stormers. Their stifling defense held the Blazers to 25 points in 20 minutes. Miller scored over half of the team's points, 13, in the second half. He finished with 29 for the game along with 14 rebounds.
Milwaukee led the entire rest of the way, building at lead of 23 at one-point, 75-52.
Milwaukee Area finishes in 5th place in the tournament, with a record of 31-6.
John Wood finishes in 6th place in the tournament, with a record of 21-15.
