COON RAPIDS, Minn. -Â The MATC Stormer (3-3) men dropped their third straight game on Thursday night. Anoka-Ramsey jumped out to a 52-37 lead and coasted to a 101-80 victory. It was the second time in three games that MATC has allowed 100 points and the third straight game where the Golden Rams scored 100 points.
Anoka-Ramsey jumped out to a 17-7 lead in the first five minutes of the game but MATC would come storming back to tie the game at 19 about midway through the first half. After the teams battled to a 22-22 tie, Anoka-Ramsey went on a 9-2 run and continued to build their lead heading to halftime.
The Stormers would pull to within six points midway through the second half but Anoka-Ramsey answered with a 15-5 run and never looked in the rear view mirror en route to the 101-80 win.
MATC lost the rebounding battle, 48-39. MATC only had 9 turnovers in the game compared to 16 for Anoka-Ramsey. The Golden Rams did more with their opportunities, however, outscoring MATC, 17-12, in points off turnovers. Anoka-Ramsey also controlled the game underneath, scoring 20 more points in the paint than MATC.
Three Stormers finished in double digits. Deota Williams lead MATC with 17 points.
Kyan Pleasant had 15 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists for MATC, all team highs.
Evan Runkel finished with 11 points.
Deidrick Hubbard contributed 8 points off the bench for the StormersÂ
in 12 minutes.
The Stormers continue a three-game in three-day road trip on Friday night in Rochester, Minnesota, against Rochester Community and Technical College. MATC returns home to the Reiman Gymnasium to play the Concordia University-Wisconsin junior varsity team on December 1
st at 8 p.m.
